Application of Grey Relational Analysis Method in the Evaluation of Summer Sown Maize Regional Trials

SU Hao;YAN Xiao-cui;WANG Nan;

To address the inadequacy of traditional maize variety evaluation methods in comprehensively considering multiple traits, this study investigated the application effectiveness of grey relational analysis in the comprehensive evaluation of summer-sowing and fresh-eating maize varieties.Based on the 2022 Hebei Provincial regional trial data, weighted grey relational analysis was conducted for the summer-sowing maize group(10 varieties, yield and 10 stress-resistant traits) and the fresh-eating maize group(7 varieties, yield and 11 quality traits).Range standardization was applied to eliminate dimensional differences among indicators, with weights set according to production requirements(33% yield weight for the summer-sowing maize group, 20% quality weight for the fresh-eating maize group).In the summer-sowing maize group, Q5279 ranked first due to its balanced performance in yield and lodging resistance.In the fresh-eating maize group, Jinyin Nuo 398 and Mihua Tiannuo 26 demonstrated outstanding synergy between yield and commercial quality.The analysis results generally aligned with field observations, though some variety rankings differed due to the weighting scheme emphasizing target traits.Grey relational analysis demonstrates adaptability to different production scenarios through flexible weighting, providing a scientific evaluation tool for multi-objective maize breeding and practical guidance for variety screening in regional trials.

Effects of Different Planting Densities on the Growth, Development and Yield of Arundo donax

LU Jin-ying;LI Hua-sheng;CHEN Yu;

[Objective] To investigate the effects of different planting densities on the growth traits and yield of Arundo donax, providing a basis for rational planting density. [Method] Tissue-cultured seedlings were used as materials, with three spacing treatments(1.2 m×1.0 m, 1.0 m×1.0 m, and 0.8 m×0.8 m). Stem diameter, plant height, tiller number, and biomass were measured over two consecutive years, and differences among treatments were compared. [Result] In the first year, plant height showed no significant differences among treatments, but stem diameter was significantly greater and tiller number significantly fewer in the 0.8 m × 0.8 m treatment compared with others. In the second year, plants under the 1.0 m×1.0 m treatment exhibited significantly higher plant height, stem diameter, and tiller number. The single-clump biomass ranked consistently as 1.0 m×1.0 m > 1.2 m×1.0 m > 0.8 m×0.8 m across both years. Yield per mu ranked as 0.8 m×0.8 m > 1.0 m×1.0 m > 1.2 m×1.0 m in the first year, and as 1.0 m×1.0 m > 0.8 m×0.8 m > 1.2 m×1.0 m in the second year. Planting density had no significant effect on calorific value. [Conclusion] Moderate dense planting is beneficial for increasing yield in the first year, but its advantage diminishes in subsequent years. The 1.0 m×1.0 m spacing showed the best overall performance and is recommended to balance yield and sustainable growth.

Path Analysis of Yield Components for Super High Yield Wheat Cultivation Variety Zhengmai 1860

ZHANG Shen-ju;QI Xue-li;GUO Rui;

To explore the influence of yield composition factors on yield under the cultivation conditions of Zhengmai 1860 super high yield(13 500 kg/hm2), the survey data of Zhengmai 1860 super high yield cultivation base in 2024 and 2025 were used to conduct correlation analysis and path analysis on the yield and yield composition factors of Zhengmai 1860. Results suggested the three factors of yield in two years are positively correlated with yield, with the correlation degree being as follows: number of spikes per hectare>number of grains per spike>thousand grain weight(in 2024), and number of spikes per hectare>thousand grain weight>number of grains per spike(in 2025). The path coefficients of the three elements of two-year yield composition and yield are as follows: number of ears per hectare>number of grains per ear>thousand grain weight(in 2024), and number of grains per ear>number of ears per hectare>thousand grain weight(in 2025). Meanwhile, the results indicated that within a reasonable range, improving any yield component through agricultural measures has the potential to increase total yield. Any change in one of the yield components will indirectly inhibit the formation of high yield by interfering with the other two yield components(most indirect path coefficients are negative). Simply increasing a certain yield component factor will not achieve a yield breakthrough by suppressing other factors. The cultivation of Zhengmai 1860 with super high yield(13 500 kg/hm2) focuses on increasing the number of effective ears and grains per ear, while also increasing the thousand grain weight, which is the main way to achieve yield breakthroughs. Based on this, combined with production practice, a super high yield cultivation technology route of “thick foundation”, “growing large ears”, and “promoting grain weight” was proposed.

Research on the Linkage Pathways Between Qiang Ethnic Rural Characteristic Industries and Employment of Formerly Impoverished Populations——A Case Study of the Shiyi Qiang Village Rural Revitalization Pilot Zone in Beichuan

XIN Zhi-yuan;ZHANG Hong;TANG Li;

Taking the rural revitalization pilot area of Shiyi Qiang Village in Beichuan, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province as the research subject, this study conducts a systematic classification and synthesis of official data and field investigation findings. It analyzes the linkage mechanisms between local characteristic industries and employment opportunities for the previously impoverished population, thereby revealing the pathways and challenges associated with industrial empowerment in the context of rural revitalization. The research reveals that the Beichuan Shiyi Qiang Village Rural Revitalization Pilot Zone has implemented a “tripartite collaboration model” involving government, enterprises, and farmers to ensure equitable benefit distribution. By extending the industrial value chain, the zone has generated diverse employment opportunities and promoted capacity building through skills training and brand-driven development strategies. By 2024, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in the pilot zone is projected to reach 26 400 yuan, exceeding the provincial average by 5 100 yuan. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including homogenized competition within the cultural tourism sector, seasonal unemployment, and the continued outflow of young laborers. To address these issues, this paper proposes an optimized pathway to strengthen the integration of characteristic industries with employment opportunities for those who have been lifted out of poverty in the Beichuan Shiyi Qiang Village Rural Revitalization Pilot Zone.

The Practical Path of Agricultural-related Vocational Education Serving Rural Revitalization from the Perspective of New Quality Productivity

LIU Jin-yu;ZHANG Ling;

Agricultural-related vocational education plays a significant role in serving rural comprehensive revitalization from the prospective of new quality productive forces. New quality productive forces can drive industrial modernization and upgrading, promote talent revitalization with a strong talent base, lead the development of ecological agriculture with green transformation, and promote the prosperity of farmers' lives in response to demand. However, agricultural-related vocational education services for the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas is facing a real dilemma. In terms of the integration of industry and education, vocational education is disconnected from rural industries; in terms of talent supply and demand, the degree of social recognition is low, the cultivation concept of “apart from agriculture”, and the lack of teachers, resulting in the misalignment of talent supply and rural demand; the skill system and ecosystem are weak, and it is difficult for the two to form a circular linkage mechanism; in the digital transformation, the main body is not combined, which hinders the digital transformation of rural agriculture. In order to solve these problems, we should explore the practical path from many aspects: relying on technological empowerment to help rural characteristic industries improve the quality and efficiency, and realize the in-depth integration of industry and education; reconstruct the value coordinates and functional paradigm of vocational education, and build a solid human capital foundation for rural revitalization; build a circular linkage mechanism between the skill system and the ecosystem, and solve the dilemma of weak system; build a multi-subject coordination mechanism, and break through the obstacle of digital transformation and integration, so as to promote agricultural-related vocational education to better serve the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas.

Comparative Analysis of the Alkaline Raw Material Ash Components of Huangyuan Rice Cake in Ganzhou Hakka

LI Sheng-chun;HE Yun-sheng;LUO Hui-wen;

[Objective]To investigate the reasons for superior quality of Huangyuan rice cake made from Adinandra millettii. [Method] The ash compositions of three raw materials commonly used by local people in Ganzhou, including Adinandra millettii, Vaccinium bracteatum and Eurya muricata, were analyzed to explore which factors contribute to the better performance of Huangyuan rice cake made from Adinandra millettii. [Result]Among the metal ions in the ash of the three plants, water-soluble K+ had the highest content, followed by Ca2+, while Mg2+ and Na+ were relatively low, and the main non-metal ions included CO32-、HCO3~-、Cl~-and SO42-; compared with Vaccinium bracteatum and Eurya muricata, the superior performance of Adinandra millettii as the optimal raw material for making Huangyuan rice cake maybe primarily attributed to its higher ash content of total water-soluble salts、K+ and CO32-, and these higher concentrations of key ions can enhance the alkaline environment, optimize the viscoelasticity, color, flavor and extend their shelf life of rice cake. In addition, by comparing the ash composition of Adinandra millettii in winter and spring, it revealed that the total water-soluble salts、CO32- and Ca2+ were higher in winter than in spring. [Conclusion]This study provides a partial explanation for why Adinandra millettii has become the predominant alkaline material for making Huangyuan rice cake used by Hakka people in Ganzhou, and also offering a scientific basis for the further development and processing of Huangyuan rice cake.
